Welcome to the last of my festive outfits series! wow, where did that last 10 days or so go?? Of course, you just knew I had to feature my ruffle detail ballgown for the finale didn’t you?
If you’ve been following along you’ll know that I decided to do a short series highlighting various party-style ideas to finish off my 2019 blog posts with a flourish. Something as glam as a ballgown (and I do feel sooooo glam in this!) would be just perfect to wear to a New Years Eve ball. Sadly I don’t have one to attend but a girl can dream eh?
***Here are all the other posts in this series if you want a recap: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven***
I originally made my dress to attend the very first Dressmakers Ball back in 2017. It was lovely to get it out again and to waft around in it. Kind of relieved it still fits too…hehe! In reality, though, I don’t imagine I’m going to be wearing my ballgown again any time soon…so with there being so much fabric in it, perhaps it would be great to make something else with it. The fabric is too nice to keep shut away in a drawer.
Talking of which..the fabric in my dress is a beautiful metallic snake print brocade which I bought from Fabric Godmother. For the design, I used McCalls 7091 dress pattern and adapted it to get the shape that I wanted. You can read all about the construction here
So, I can’t quite believe that Christmas is imminent and we’ll have soon completed another year and we’ll be heading into a new decade. I’m coming up to 3 years of blogging at the end of January too! Wow…if you’ve been with me through all 3 years then I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and if you’ve joined me along the way I do hope you’ll stick around because I hope to keep blogging and inspiring.
I want to wish you a very peaceful festive season and all the very best for 2020. Much love xxx

WOAH! I found your blog less than a year ago, so this is the first time I’ve seen that ballgown! It’s pretty much a revelation! Just gorgeous.
