So this is a very special week for me. Today I celebrate a full year of blogging…yay me!! I thought it would be a fab way to really celebrate this milestone if I held a special 1 Year Blogiversary Giveaway…So with that in mind, I approached the lovely Sheona of Sewisfaction and she very graciously offered to sponsor the giveaway with no less than 2 metres of fabric…how cool is that! It’s a great way to thank all of you lovely readers and followers of my blog and to spread a little fabric love too. I mean…heaven knows we always all need more fabric don’t we…don’t we??
Now, I’ll come back to the fabric giveaway in a while, but first I want to reflect a little on my first blogging year. I touched upon it a bit in this post where you can read about some of my 2017 highlights.
I’m really glad that I started my blog…I’ve found that it’s benefited me in many ways. Actually sitting down to write a blog post has really made me use brain cells that hadn’t been exercised since high school…seriously! Writing is not something I had done much at all in all these years…I guess it probably shows, lol. I hope, well I think, that my skills have improved somewhat by blogging, but you know, it’s good for me. It’s true when they say that if you don’t use it you lose it and now I’m using it (the old grey matter) and it’s great! So… I’m finding my feet with the writing and I’m also finding out about what I like to share with you my lovely readers and also about what you enjoy reading. It’s an evolving kind of thing, but ideas for blog posts are coming to me all the time and I’m loving it. In fact, I just love sharing all things sewing related with you and all of these processes are good for my sense of well being, particularly helping me to get focused when stress has been evident in my family life, particularly these last few months.
Connecting with other bloggers is also a wonderful by-product of blogging. I’ve met so many lovely people both online and in real life over this last year. Exciting things are now beginning to happen in 2018 too. For one thing, I’m thrilled to have been asked to be part of the blogging team for the Day and Night Dress Challenge. You can read all about it on Elizabeth’s blog ‘Elizabeth Made This’…suffice to say that I’m very excited about it (will be posting more on my two contributions soon) As you know, I’m also doing the Ready to Wear Fast 2018 organised by Goodbye Valentino’s Sarah Gunn. Add to that my commitment to Hila’s Burda Challenge and I’m already starting the New Year on a high.
I couldn’t have got where I am though, without your support. Knowing that my posts are actually being read and enjoyed (hopefully) by you, makes it all worthwhile…It’s so good to know my words aren’t just disappearing into the ether! So thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Which brings me back rather nicely to the point of this post…want to win some fabric?? Of course you do! To enter, all you have to do is pop across to the Sewisfaction website, have a browse of the wonderful selection of fabrics and then leave a comment below telling me which one you would like if you won. All of the names of the commenters will go into the draw.
If you want a double chance of winning, then I’m also hosting this giveaway on Instagram where you can take part too. Just find the giveaway graphic on my feed and follow the instructions on it. I’ll be doing the draw next week and you have until midnight on Tuesday 30th of January to enter. Once a winner has been picked at random on Wednesday I will announce it on Instagram and on here. I’ll then be in touch and will need details to pass on to Sheona.
It therefore just remains for me to say a HUGE thank you to Sheona for offering the lovely prize and being a fab sponsor.
****Please note 1…The winner will be picked completely at random and the giveaway is open to all, but entrants living outside the UK may incur postage costs, it’s still free fabric though!
****Please note 2…No payment has been received by myself for this giveaway.
I look forward to reading about your fabric choices!
Congratulations! I hope the next year is just as wonderful for your sewing. I had a browse of Sewisfaction and would absolutely adore the luxury crepe in scarlet. I think it would look beaut made into a Sew Over It Eve dress with the floaty sleeves.
Author
Thanks so much Alice! You got in the draw just in the nick of time, well done 🙂 Ooh scarlet crepes does sound luscious! Good luck. Will do the draw later xx
Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I’m just starting to read blogs although I’ve sewn for years! I’ve checked out the fabrics and there’s lots I like. I think I’d probably chose the blood moon organic jersey as I think it would make a great keilo dress from named clothing! Either that our there’s a great mustard crepe!! Anyway keep up the good work now ove found you I’m stalking for sure btw id love to win especially as is my birthday tomorrow!
Author
Ooh thanks Carole and welcome to the wonderful world of blogs! I’ve followed lots of blogs for years…love them. I hope you enjoy mine 😊. Good luck with the draw and Happy Birthday for tomorrow x
Hi Diane,
congratulations on completing your first year of blogging!🍾 You are such an inspiration.
I would love to win any of those fabrics, it’s very difficult to choose from such a lovely selection but I think I would like to go for the Foilage Canopy luxury crepe 🤞
Author
What a lovely thing to say, thank you Debbie xx. I like the sound of your choice. So many great fabrics aren’t there? Best of luck!
Hi Diane, congratulations on your one year anniversary, I’ve just found you via Saturday Night Stitch & will be reading back on your blog posts & following on IG. Choosing just one fabric on Sewisfaction is a challenge as they are all so nice but I saw Sheona review the Argyll wool & thought it was absolutely stunning, so that would be my choice. Here’s to the future blog.
Author
Hi Sam! How fab that you found me via Hila’s blog. I’m chuffed you like what you see here :). That Argyll wool is what I recently made my Lisette coat with (2 blog posts ago) and I adore it! Great choice!
Hello again, I entered this opportunity on Instagram the other day and have now selected Sewisfaction’s beautiful ‘Summer Splash’ Luxury Cotton Lawn mainly because I fell in love with the thought of sewing such colourful material and then to wear it would make anyone’s day more cheerful. In fact I think it would cheer up anyone’s day to see it being worn! However, twin granddaughters were born on the 19th January and if the design pattern isn’t too big, I suspect I might have to use some of the fabric for two little sun frocks for them! I can dream of winning but in the meantime, think of which pattern I might use for me in the off chance of getting lucky! Happy blogiversary!
Author
Hi again! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Aww, I really love your thoughts on the fabric you chose. Love the idea of cheering up someone’s day when they see a happy bright fabric and you would feel cheered wearing it too. xx
Congratulations on your first year of blogging! You’ve made some lovely things in the past year 🙂
Thanks for the great giveaway too! I’d love to have 2 meters of most of the fabrics on that site…. It’s probably good that I don’t live nearby! It’s a very close call between the green wool twill and the jardin de fleur cotton lawn – but I think I’d go for the wool twill.
Author
That’s lovely of you to say, thanks so much Astrid. Glad you like the giveaway too…lots of lovely stuff to choose from. I like your wool choice…I adore working with wool.
What a treat! That’s another site I hadn’t seen before, but I was VERY tempted. If I win, I’d love some of the Vintage 100% Wool Twill – Forest

Hello Diane – this is fun. I like your idea.
I’ve had a look at Sewisfaction website and have been rather inspired. My choice of material if I am lucky enough to win is Art Gallery ‘Wild Bloom Spices’ jersey.
